PrimeFour Aberdeen Ladies Open / Lockhart Trophy 2014
14th - 16th November saw Curl Aberdeen host Aberdeen Ladies Open and a new competition the Lockhart Trophy. This year also saw Aberdeen Ladies Open gain a new sponsorship in PrimeFour, and they will sponsor the competition for the next two seasons.
Teams came from all over including Poland and the Czech Republic to play in the Ladies Open as well as the top teams from our own Junior and Women's circuit. The Lockhart Trophy attracted former Olympian, World's and Women's champions to the event. Next year we hope that numbers for the competition grow, as numbers were down on what we were wanting. Due to the low entry the competition was run in a round robin, with the winner being the team who finished top, every team played each other once and gained one point for a win.
The PrimeFour Aberdeen Ladies Open went to the last game, in which the two teams vying for top spot met each other, Team L.Gray against the undefeated Team A.Kobeskova. The undefeated streak continued and Team A.Kobeskova became PrimeFour Aberdeen Ladies Open Champions 2014, Team G.Aitken finishing second and L.Gray finishing 3rd.
It wasn't just the Ladies Open that went to the final game, The Lockhart Trophy was an even closer affair with ALL five teams finishing level on points after their games had finished. Team Adams came out winners of the Lockhart Trophy in it's first year of running.
